What is dark money (special interest money)? How has it affected local Manatee County elections and allegedly influenced the decisions of our County Commission? Cathy Antunes is host of “The Detail”, a radio show about local politics, on WSLR 96.5 fm.  She blogs on local political issues, writes a monthly column for SRQ Daily, and her guest columns have appeared in numerous newspapers.  Cathy’s extensive education and time as a military spouse provided the opportunity to reside in numerous US cities, which sparked her interest in local politics. For the past 20 years, Cathy has resided in Sarasota, FL. Cathy has spoken and written extensively on dark money, tracing the sources for Sarasota and Manatee candidates.

Joe McClash was a Manatee County commissioner from 1990-2012. Unseated by large infusions of “dark money”, Joe founded and published Bradenton Times, an online newspaper. With decades of experience in Manatee County politics and a sometimes prescient ability to predict political moves, he will shed light on the forces behind Manatee County politics.
