People with disabilities have long faced some of the greatest barriers to voting in our elections. From inaccessible polling places and a lack of working accessible voting machines to onerous restrictions on absentee voting, their right to the ballot has often been ignored or forgotten.

Please join us for the is presentation on voting for individuals with disabilities. We will learn Disability Pride month and flag, opportunities to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. The laws governing required accommodations to enable those with disabilities to vote will be covered and what challenges and barriers still exist. What impact has the recent voting law changes in Florida had on the disability community?

We will learn how persons with disabilities can register, what accommodations are made for one to vote in private, without help. There is a “voting gap” between the percent of the abled voting and those with disabilities voting. We will hear the efforts to close that gap.
