Curious about the National League of Women Voters? – meet Alicia Gurrieri
We are very excited to announce that Alicia Gurrieri, Organizing Manager for the National League of Women Voters, will join us for a special hour of the “Taste of the League” (via Zoom). Alicia is using her direct-service and advocacy experiences to increase equity in democracy by working closely with League affiliates. Learn what important issues the National is working on and how they exercise their influence. Get ideas from what other leagues are doing to make a difference. Let’s hear how we can better support the National, and how they can better support the LWV of Manatee!
After graduating from Northwestern University in 2013, Alicia became a Health Educator with the South Jersey AIDS Alliance and provided one-on-one and group behavioral intervention counseling to people living with HIV. After seeing firsthand the positive impact New Jersey’s Medicaid expansion had on its residents, she moved into the policy advocacy space by joining the National Women’s Law Center’s Reproductive Rights and Health team as their program assistant. She later absorbed the role of communications assistant and then worked as their development analyst. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Political Management from George Washington University.
This event is part of the Taste of our League program, a bi-monthly general meeting providing an opportunity for all to learn and be inspired. Potential members can get a “taste” of the League and existing members can connect, share and have a bit of fun. Spread the word and share this with friends and neighbors.
Of course, we will have our toast and other fun events…looking forward to seeing you!
