Learn about 2-1-1, free confidential crisis counseling
Someone You Know will Need 211
Tuesday, July 13, 1:00PM
Did you know that help for individuals and families is just a phone call away? You can call for counseling, guidance, and assistance, call 2-1-1 to receive free and confidential crisis counseling along with useful information and referral 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Every day hundreds of people across Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto Counties find help with financial assistance, health programs, crisis support, and more.
Find out about this program and how they will connect the caller to a multilingual specialist who does more than “patch people through” to agencies. Instead, 211 specialists are trained to identify root causes of a client’s problem – and connect them with a wide range of available resources that meet all the underlying needs, not just the one that prompted the call, text or email. 211 makes the social services ecosystem/network more efficient by ensuring people in need are connected to agencies that can help them.
Christina Russi, Community Fiscal Agent and Liaison at The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center, will not only give us the background and useful information on 211, but will also discuss her connections to 211 over the course of the past approx. 15 years and her role in the community now.
