Power and Money – Why the Census is so Important

Our population census, mandated by the US Constitution, is performed every ten years.
Its effects are far-reaching, affecting representation and billions of dollars in appropriations. Attend this program to learn all about it.
Our speakers will include:
Dr. Keith Fitzgerald, Associate Professor of Political Science at New College of Florida, who will discuss what it is, why it was created, and the importance of the information it gathers.
Neal E. Dollar, US Census Partnership Specialist, Atlanta Regional Census Center, will explain how the Census is organized, conducted and shared.
Also speaking will be Ogden Clark, of the Neighborhood Services Department of Manatee County, who will explain the county’s role in the census and how the public can help.
