December 29, 2021, Alice Newlon, President of the League of Women Voters of Manatee County, was interviewed for the WSLR Radio Peace & Justice Report.
The first portion of the report is an interview with Tim Nevius, an attorney and former college NCAA athlete who now represents the players. He’ll review the new rights that athletes have to profit from their name, image and likeness.
On the second half of the show was live, and about the League of Women Voters Manatee County. Alice Newlon, their President, described their many workshops on diversity, equity and inclusion. Recently LWV Manatee has had two book group sessions doing “Me and White Supremacy” and “Racism without Racists.” They had a professional program on Implicit Bias, and they have had LGBTQ training. In addition, their government committee observes the county commission meetings and their education committee observes the school board meetings. They are running an educational program on January 22 on running for local office.
