Black Maternal Health Week 2025 
 
  • Dates: April 11-17, 2025
  • Theme: “Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy” 
     
Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) aims to raise awareness about the disparities in maternal health outcomes among Black women, advocate for policies and programs to improve their well-being, and celebrate the strengths and resilience of Black mothers. 
 
Activities: 
Educational events and workshops, Advocacy campaigns and policy discussions, Community gatherings and support groups, Media coverage and social media activations, and Fundraisers and resource fairs. 
 
Organizer:
BMHW is organized by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA), a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving Black maternal health. 
 
Additional Information:
  • Black women in the United States are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women. 
  • Maternal mortality rates among Black women have been declining, but disparities persist. 
  • Social, economic, and healthcare system factors contribute to these disparities.

By raising awareness and taking action, BMHW strives to create a future where all Black mothers have the opportunity to experience safe and healthy pregnancies and postpartum journeys.
