Education Issues Action Team Meeting
The League of Women Voters of Manatee County’s Education Issues Action Team will welcome Dr. Norín Dollard, Senior Policy Analyst for the Florida Policy Institute, who has graciously agreed to join us to talk about Vouchers: What Cost to Public Education?
For Manatee County in particular, in the second calculation of the FEFP, the amount going to vouchers is $50,659,934 for 2025-26. How are these vouchers funded, how can they be used, and where is the accountability? Come prepared to learn about how vouchers impact public education funding, and their effects on our community’s teachers and students. Do vouchers disproportionately favor the wealthy? Are there students receiving voucher funds yet attending public schools? Join us to explore the pros and cons of vouchers in Florida’s public education system, and bring your questions for the Q&A!
