Speakers
Dr. Nicholas Chartres is a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Sydney where he studies the commercial determinants of health, focusing on chemicals, nutrition and public health. He is a member of the Center to End Corporate Harm at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Nick is also a research methodologist and works with national and international organizations and agencies, including the World Health Organization, to conduct reviews of the evidence and develop guidelines using empirically based methods to ensure improved consistency, greater transparency, and reduced bias when evaluating the scientific evidence and formulating recommendations.
Abena BakenRa, Masters in Public Health is a Science Associate working with the Science, Policy & Engagement team. In her role with PRHE, she will be managing the Science Action Network, assisting with our public commenting efforts in response to EPA chemical rulemaking, and leveraging her expertise in public health to advance our work here at PRHE. She received her MPH from University of California, Berkeley, specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She has also worked with a handful of research groups within UC. Most recently, she worked as an intern in the Department of Neurology at UC San Francisco.
